Class Action Against General Motors of Canada Ltd.

gmcanadianclassaction.ca

SGM joined a national team of plaintiffs’ counsel pursuing a national class action against General Motors of Canada Limited and General Motors Corporation. Proceedings were filed in most Canadian jurisdictions. In Ontario, two actions were filed: Jamieson v. General Motors of Canada Limited and Stewart v. General Motors of Canada Limited and General Motors Corporation.

SGM’s Louis Sokolov and Heidi Rubin were counsel in the Jamieson action.

Summary

The claim was based upon the allegation that certain GM vehicles manufactured between 1995 and 2003 contained engines with a defective Intake Manifold Gasket ("IMG") part. The IMG regulates the flow of air and fuel into the cylinder. It was alleged that the IMG in the vehicles in question degraded prematurely causing coolant to leak into the engine and resulting in engine damage.
