Discharge and Discipline

Stephen Krashinsky and Jeffrey Sack

(Toronto: Lancaster House, 1989)

Discharge and Discipline is a review of arbitration awards dealing with discharge and discipline. The book attempts to assess appropriate levels discipline for particular types of cases involving culpable employee misconduct and non-culpable incapacity or incompetence.

Discharge and Discipline is divided into sections which cover different categories of cases. Each section first sets out the basic rules governing discharge and discipline for the particular type of case, and then contains a compendium of reported arbitration awards on the issue decided during the period 1978 to 1987.
